I have served in several leadership positions in the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC), including the chair of International Communication Division (ICD) during 2018-2019 and teaching chair for Political Communication Division (PLCD). I currently serve as a research chair for the Political Communication division. In addition, I am a board member with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board for journalism studies and serve as the director of graduate studies at the Valenti School of Communication.

I have given more than forty research presentations at national and international conferences such as the Association for Journalism and Mass Communication Research (AEJMC), International Communication Association (ICA), International Association for Media and Communication Research (IAMCR); Central and Eastern European Communication and Media (CEECOM); Politics and Computational Social Science (PaCSS); and World Association for Public Opinion Research (WAPOR). In addition, I have been invited to offer guest lectures and presentations at a variety of universities and community organizations.

I receive frequent invitations from the local and foreign press to comment on the role of digital and social media in politics. My latest appearances are in Voice of America, Houston Public Media (NPR), KPRC Channel2 Houston, Fox 26 Houston, and the Houston Chronicle. In addition, I am a frequent commentator in international media, such as Voice of America, and Kosovo media, including Koha Ditore, Klan Kosova, RTV21.
