THE BALKANS
I have deep roots in the Balkan region. I grew up in Montenegro, a tiny country by the Adriatic Sea. As a member of the Albanian ethnic community, I was raised bilingual and bi-cultural. I lived in Pristina, Kosovo, for almost a decade while I finished my undergraduate studies at the University of Pristina and worked as a journalist for local media. I have spent much time around the Balkans as a reporter, researcher and traveler.
This region has an unparalleled nature: with rugged mountains, breathtaking lakes and rivers, and the glittering Adriatic Coast with virgin beaches. It’s rich in culture and archeology, with several UNESCO protected sites, and has a thriving food and wine scene. Check out Chasing the Donkey travel blog to get inspired to visit the region. Balkan Insight is a great news sources for current affairs.
Enjoy some pictures I have taken throughout my travels. It’s always a joy to come back!
